The future lives in 2019 – Part 3 #CES2019

January 10, 2019

It’s a bird, it’s a plane, no, wait, it is a propeller and jet pack flying motorcycle taxi…or something like that. The promise of flying cars and personal jet packs have been the dreams of many every since The Jetsons opened up the world to a future filled with possibilities. In the past 10 years we have seen many concept “flying cars” but nothing, as yet, has come to fruition (in the market). Can this future actually live today in 2019?

At #CES2019 there are a few futuristic vehicles for market consideration. From real flying cars to seemingly simple electric motorcycles. Are they good enough, safe enough, and priced right to be adopted by the market? Only time will tell but man we are getting close to some pretty awesome future product offers living in 2019. Here are a few examples of what can be found this year at #CES2019. Are they really the future living in 2019? You be the judge 🙂

Flying Car/Taxihttp://www.bellflight.com/company/innovation/ces – I have not seen this offer from Bell fly yet but Bell has a great track record and push the boundaries of aviation so I think they will make good and turn this into a reality. This is not one for the roads but for the vertical and the skies. One to watch for sure. They have partnered with Uber so look for it as an option in your app…a few years from now 😉

Flying Carhttps://www.pal-v.com/ – This is a hybrid offer car/helicopter or flying car. The 3D animation is impressive for the new model and you can see their earlier test models actually flying. It is interesting and seems to be getting close to reality. Commercially viable? Hard to say but impressive none the less and the engineering seems very sound.

Electric Motorcyclehttps://www.harley-davidson.com/gb/en/motorcycles/future-vehicles/livewire.html: Zero to sixty in under 4 seconds, 110 mile range, and a production bike that will be available very soon (so we are told) makes this offer from Harley a bit of the the future living in 2019.

Personal Flying Machinehttp://electrafly.co/: Not the sexiest description but that is how they describe it. They also describe it as a Star Wars style speeder which I think is way cooler. Concept for sure at the moment but it shows how essentially a giant drone can be used for personal transportation…potentially. Whatever it is, the teaser video is pretty cool.

E Scooters and Bikeshttps://swagtron.com/: Not as exciting as flying cars but for sure more exciting on quick ROI. If you have every been to China you will know that E bikes and scooters are everywhere. In big part because petrol motorcycles are banned in major cities due to pollution, which really helped to explode the E market in China. Now E offers are exploding in the West and this company has some pretty cool offers. Why are they exploding? Simply, a cool factor and a price point that matches market needs. But with that fair price point comes the challenge that everyone wants into this arena. So kudos to all that are in this fight for market placement in the E world.

Above is just a taste of some of the personal transportation product offers at #CES2019. Multiple electric vehicle companies (cars, bikes, scooters…) are in the main stream now vying for market position. Where as a decade ago there were only a few players. Electric vehicles with significant market share is now a reality in the next 10 years. The question is, how long until I can get my flying motorcycle? I might not see it in my lifetime but with technological advancements coming fast and furious these days the odds are getting better all the time.
