DMLS 3D Printing
Direct Metal Laser Sintering or DMLS is an industrial 3D printing technology which builds parts from a range of metal materials one layer at a time by sintering metal powders together. This process is capable of building highly complex shapes which would be near impossible to make via other methods.
Materials available: Tool Steel, Stainless Steel, aluminium, copper, titanium

What is it used for?
DMLS is a great choice for manufacturing complex shapes and geometries which would either be impossible or incredibly expensive to manufacture via conventional processes. Used extensively in automotive, aerospace and medical industries it is a great choice for weight saving applications and part consolidation.
DMLS design tips
Due to the weight of the material overhanging sections will almost always need support which must be removed post process. Post process machining of parts is required to achieve tight tolerances and for holes and threads.
