Rapid Tooling (RT) is a process that deploys a Rapid Prototyping (RP) model to create a mold quickly. Rapid Prototyping process may be used directly as well to fabricate a tool for a limited volume of prototypes.
Rapid Tooling provides a direct, more integrated route to tooling. Two categories of Rapid Tooling are Soft Tooling and Bridge Tooling.
Made of silicon rubber resin, soft tooling has the advantage of flexibility. Silicon rubber mould and in some cases, wax patterns are used for producing plastic prototype components.
Bridge Tooling falls in between soft tooling and hard tooling.Production of die is done by spraying low melting alloys over the RP Master while providing back up materials. The process is longer, compared to soft tooling, and more durable. Dies produced through Bridge Tooling can be used for production of components of commercial plastics.
We also offer a rapid injection mold tooling service – here we use rapid CNC machining to manufacture a rapid injection mold tool which can then be used to manufacture accurate parts in the production plastics.
